Gambling disorder screening day was established by Cambridge Health Alliance, Massachusetts, in 2014 to help identify people who may have a gambling disorder and need further assessment and assistance.
Because March is Problem Gambling Awareness month, what better time than mid-March to screen for gambling disorder and offer resources.
Problem Gambling Screening Days are planned by local and state supporters and screeners. Sites for screening include a broad range of locations, like health care clinics, gaming venues, lobbies of state buildings, churches and synagogues. A short 3-question screen is used, and referral information is given to those who need further assessment.
Problem Gambling Screening Day is now not just in the United States but has gone international in its efforts.
