Attention-deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) is described as a persistent pattern of inattention and/or hyperactivity-impulsivity that interferes with functioning. Problem gamblers who entered CalGETS outpatient treatment between July 1, 2016 and June 30, 2017 were asked if they had received treatment for attention deficit disorder in the past year.
It is estimated that high percentages of problem gamblers (22%) meet ADHD criteria, but of the 879 CalGETS clients who received outpatient treatment, only 3% reported receiving ADHD treatment in the past year.
